Savor Local Flavors

No trip to Jackson Hole is complete without indulging in the local cuisine. Start your day at the farmers market where you can sample delicious goat cheese from Winter Winds Farm and grass-fed beef from Lockhart Cattle Company. For a unique treat, try a refreshing Sloshie— a local favorite made with lavender lemonade, locally distilled gin, and honey from Still Works.

If you’re heading into Grand Teton National Park, make sure to stop by
Creekside Market for hearty sandwiches that are perfect for a picnic amidst nature.

#3
Come Prepared with Layers

Jackson’s weather can be unpredictable, so packing layers is key to staying comfortable throughout your adventure. From frosty mornings to hot afternoons at Colter Bay, and chilly evenings watching the sunset over the Grand. (Try Schwabachers Landing for a great view!) having the right clothing can make all the difference. If you find yourself in need of another layer, stop in our retail shop and meet our friendly staff. We'll get you geared up in no time.

#4
Plan Ahead for Campsites, Dinner Reservations, Tours & Permits

Planning is crucial for an unforgettable Jackson Hole adventure. Popular activities like camping, dining, and boating require reservations and permits that can book up quickly, especially during peak seasons. For instance, campsites, dinner spots, hiking permits, and boat permits should be secured well in advance. If you're interested in paddling or boating, remember that any watercraft entering Grand Teton National Park requires a GTNP permit available at the Moose Visitor Center. Additionally, there’s a $5 charge for boats entering the park, and they must be inspected for aquatic invasive species (AIS) stickers. Paddleboards don't require permits on town stretches, but rafts, kayaks, and canoes do.

For groups larger than 15 people, obtaining a permit is mandatory. It’s essential to apply for this permit at least two weeks in advance due to high demand during the summer months. Non-commercial permits are free, but they’re necessary for organized group activities. Check the
Forest Service website for more details and ensure you have everything sorted to enjoy a seamless and memorable adventure. With these tips in mind, you’re set for an epic Jackson Hole adventure that combines exploration, local flavors, and thorough preparation. Enjoy every moment in this beautiful corner of the world!
